Käsipalli, also known as handball, is a team sport played by two teams of seven players each. The objective is to score by throwing a ball into the opposing goal. The game is played on a court with a goal at each end. Players move the ball by passing, dribbling, or throwing it. A goal is scored when the ball completely crosses the goal line.

The game originated in ancient Greece, where a similar sport called "χειροσφαίριση" (cheirosfairisis) was played. Modern handball was developed in the late 19th century in Europe. It became an Olympic sport in 1936. The sport is popular in Europe, with many professional leagues and international competitions.

A handball team consists of six court players and one goalkeeper. Players can only hold the ball for a maximum of three seconds and take a maximum of three steps without dribbling. Physical contact is allowed but is regulated to prevent injury. Fouls can result in free throws, 7-meter throws (similar to a penalty shot), or suspensions.

The court is rectangular, measuring 40 meters by 20 meters. The goals are 3 meters wide and 2 meters high. The ball is typically made of leather or synthetic material. Matches are divided into two halves, usually 30 minutes each, with a halftime break. The team with the most goals at the end of the match wins. Käsipalli requires a combination of speed, agility, strength, and tactical awareness.
