A kysyntäkäyrä, or demand curve in English, is a graphical representation in economics that illustrates the relationship between the price of a good or service and the quantity of that good or service that consumers are willing and able to purchase at various prices. Typically, the demand curve slopes downward from left to right, indicating an inverse relationship between price and quantity demanded. This means that as the price of a good decreases, the quantity demanded by consumers generally increases, and conversely, as the price increases, the quantity demanded tends to decrease. This phenomenon is known as the law of demand.

The demand curve is a fundamental tool used in microeconomic analysis to understand consumer behavior and market dynamics. It assumes that all other factors influencing demand, such as consumer income, tastes and preferences, the prices of related goods (substitutes and complements), and expectations about future prices, remain constant. When these other factors change, the entire demand curve shifts, either to the right (an increase in demand) or to the left (a decrease in demand). For instance, if consumer income rises for a normal good, the demand curve would shift to the right, indicating that at every price level, consumers will now demand a larger quantity.
