kutmoqda

Kutmoqda is a verb form in Uzbek that expresses an ongoing action of waiting or expecting. It derives from the infinitive kutmoq, meaning to wait or to expect, and uses the present-progressive suffix -moqda to indicate that the action is currently in progress. In English, kutmoqda corresponds roughly to “is waiting” or “is expecting.”

Grammatically, kutmoq is the base verb; kutmoqda marks the present progressive aspect. The form agrees with the subject in person and number in its full paradigm: I am waiting is kutmoqdaman, you are waiting is kutmoqdasan, he/she/it is waiting is kutmoqda, we are waiting is kutmoqdamiz, you (plural) are waiting is kutmoqdalsiz, they are waiting is kutmoqdalar. The object of waiting, when specified, is usually marked with the accusative case particle, as in U javobni kutmoqda (He is waiting for the answer).
