Kudostulostus, also known as tissue engineering or regenerative medicine, is an interdisciplinary field that aims to restore, maintain, or improve tissue function. It involves the combination of cells, engineering materials, and biochemical factors to create biological substitutes that can repair or replace damaged or diseased tissues.

The process typically begins with the selection of appropriate cell types, which can be autologous (from the patient), allogeneic (from a donor), or stem cells. These cells are then seeded onto a scaffold, a three-dimensional structure made from biocompatible and biodegradable materials.
