kudostekijätoimintaa
Kudostekijätoimintaa, often translated as "tissue factor activity" or "thromboplastin activity," refers to the procoagulant activity of tissue factor (TF). Tissue factor is a transmembrane protein that plays a critical role in initiating the extrinsic pathway of the blood coagulation cascade. In its physiological role, TF is expressed on cells outside the bloodstream, such as subendothelial fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells. When the vascular endothelium is disrupted, exposing TF to circulating blood, it binds to and activates factor VII (FVII). This TF-FVII complex then initiates the cascade of enzymatic reactions that ultimately leads to the formation of fibrin, the main component of blood clots.
In pathological conditions, increased kudostekijätoimintaa can contribute to thrombosis. For instance, during inflammation or sepsis, TF
