Additionally, adipose tissue produces hormones such as leptin and adiponectin, which regulate appetite and insulin sensitivity.

The amount of adipose tissue in the body can vary greatly among individuals and is influenced by factors such as genetics, diet, and physical activity. Excessive accumulation of adipose tissue can lead to obesity, which is associated with an increased risk of various health conditions, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers. Conversely, insufficient adipose tissue can result in conditions such as lipodystrophy, where fat is not properly distributed throughout the body.
