kromosomistö
Kromosomistö refers to the complete set of chromosomes found within a cell of a particular species. Chromosomes are thread-like structures located inside the nucleus of eukaryotic cells that are made up of protein and a single molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). DNA contains the genetic instructions for the development, functioning, growth, and reproduction of all known organisms. The number and appearance of chromosomes vary significantly between species. For instance, humans typically have 23 pairs of chromosomes, for a total of 46. These include 22 pairs of autosomes and one pair of sex chromosomes (XX for females and XY for males).
The arrangement of chromosomes within a cell is known as the karyotype. The karyotype can be visualized
