korrutist

Korrutist is a term used in Estonian mathematics to denote one of the factors in a multiplication expression. In a standard multiplication a × b = c, the korrutist refers to the number being multiplied by the other factor, while the second factor is called the korrutaja and the result is the korrutis (the product).

The term emphasizes the role of a operand within the operation of multiplication. Because multiplication is commutative, the same two numbers can be described using either assignment of korrutist and korrutaja, depending on which factor is being highlighted. In educational contexts, teachers and textbooks may introduce korrutist alongside korrutaja and korrutis to clarify the structure of a multiplication sentence.
