Konvergentne is an adjective used to describe mathematical objects and processes that approach a common limit as their index progresses. The term stems from convergence, a core concept in analysis and related disciplines, and is used in Slovenian and other languages to describe similar ideas in sequences, series, and functions.

In analysis, a sequence (a_n) is konvergent if there exists a limit L such that a_n tends to L as n grows larger. For example, the sequence a_n = 1/n is konvergent and converges to 0. The concept provides a precise way to talk about the stabilization of a sequence’s values.

A series, written as sum a_n, is konvergent when its sequence of partial sums S_N = sum_{n=1}^N a_n converges to a finite number. An example is the geometric series with terms 1/2^n, whose sum converges to 1. If the partial sums do not approach a finite value, the series is divergent.
