In Turkish, konu means “topic” or “subject,” and dur is a copular suffix meaning “it is.” Some linguistic observations suggest that forms resembling konudur may arise in older or regional usages as a predicative expression meaning “it is a subject” or “it is the subject,” though this is not standard in contemporary Turkish. As a result, konusudur is often considered obscure, dialectal, or historical rather than a common, living term in standard Turkish.

Because konusudur does not have a stable, widely cited meaning, its interpretation is highly dependent on context.
