kontraktien
Kontraktien, also known as kontraktie in some sources, is a historical form of corporate equity that appeared in parts of Europe during the 18th to 19th centuries. Rather than issuing standard share certificates that recorded ownership, companies issued contracts (kontrakter) that defined the holder’s rights to profits and to governance under the terms of the contract. Ownership was evidenced by the contract itself, and transfer typically required assignment of the contract and compliance with prevailing company law.
