Kontinuítás is a Hungarian noun that denotes the act or process of continuing something, or the state of being continuous over time or in a sequence. The term is a loanword from Latin continuatio, passing into Hungarian through other European languages. It is used to describe ongoing action, extension, or the uninterrupted progression of events, processes, or states.

In everyday language, kontinuáció refers to the continuation of plans, narratives, projects, or physical processes. For example, a television series may announce a kontínuáció of its season, or a writer may plan a continuation of a story in subsequent installments. It also appears in discussions of sequences and workflows that persevere beyond a single moment or phase.

In mathematical and scientific contexts, the term is found alongside more specific terms. Hungarian mathematics typically uses the word folytonosság to express continuity of a function, but kontinuáció can appear in contexts describing the continuation or extension of objects beyond their original domain, or in translations of English phrases such as analytic continuation. In this sense, kontinuáció denotes the idea of carrying a concept forward, not merely its immediate, local behavior.

In computing and philosophy, the notion of continuation appears as the continuation of computation or argument. In theoretical computer science, continuation refers to the rest of the program to be executed at a given point; Hungarian discussions sometimes use kontinuáció for this idea, though folytatás or English loanwords can also be used depending on the author.
