Kontinuitetskontrol, often translated as continuity check or continuity testing, is a fundamental electrical test used to determine if an electrical path exists between two points. This is typically done to verify that a circuit is complete and unbroken, or to identify a break in a circuit. The most common method involves using a multimeter set to its continuity function. When the multimeter's probes are placed across the two points being tested, a continuous circuit will result in an audible beep and/or a visual indicator on the multimeter's display, often showing a very low resistance reading. Conversely, an open circuit, meaning a break or interruption in the path, will produce no sound and a high resistance reading (often displayed as "OL" for open loop or infinity). Continuity testing is crucial in a wide range of applications, including troubleshooting electrical wiring in homes and vehicles, checking the integrity of cables and connectors, and verifying the proper functioning of switches and fuses.
