Konteinerformaate refer to a set of standardized dimensions used for shipping containers. These dimensions were adopted internationally in the 1960s to facilitate the efficient loading and transportation of goods by ship, truck, and train. There are three primary konteinerformaate: 20-foot, 40-foot, and high-cube containers.

The 20-foot konteiner provides approximately 2,360 cubic feet of volume, with an interior length of 19 feet 3-5/16 inches, a width of 7 feet 8-5/16 inches, and a height of 7 feet 8-5/16 inches. The 40-foot konteiner offers roughly 7,740 cubic feet of volume, with exterior dimensions similar to the 20-foot unit, but with a longer interior space.

High-cube containers have the same external dimensions as the standard 20-foot konteiner, but feature an increased interior height of 9 feet of 4-1/2 inches, resulting in an additional 1,350 cubic feet of space. High-cube containers are often used for oversized or heavy cargo.
