Komposittet refers to a composite material, which is a material made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties which remain separate and distinct at the macroscopic or microscopic level within the finished structure. The individual components retain their identities and do not dissolve or merge completely into one another. The purpose of creating a composite is to achieve a new material with properties that are superior to, or different from, the individual components.

The constituent materials in a composite typically consist of a reinforcement phase embedded within a matrix phase. The reinforcement phase is usually stronger and stiffer and is often in the form of fibers, particles, or flakes. The matrix phase binds the reinforcement together, transfers load to the reinforcement, and protects the reinforcement from environmental degradation. Common matrix materials include polymers, metals, and ceramics.

Composite materials are widely used across various industries due to their advantageous properties such as high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and design flexibility. Applications include aerospace components, automotive parts, sporting goods, and construction materials.
