Koguprotsesside refers to the Estonian term for "process mining." It is a discipline that aims to discover, monitor, and improve real business processes by extracting knowledge from event logs readily available in today's information systems. Process mining bridges the gap between traditional data mining and business process management by providing insights into how processes actually run, rather than how they are assumed to run.

The core idea of process mining is to analyze event logs, which are digital records of activities performed within an information system. Each event in a log typically includes a case ID, an activity name, and a timestamp. By applying various algorithms to these logs, process mining can reconstruct the as-is process model, identify deviations, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies.

There are three main types of process mining: discovery, conformance checking, and enhancement. Process discovery aims to create a process model from an event log without any prior assumptions about the process. Conformance checking verifies whether the actual process execution, as recorded in the event log, conforms to a given reference process model. Process enhancement uses the event log to improve an existing process model, for example, by identifying performance issues or adding new perspectives.
