Knuseenheder is a term used in Danish engineering and mineral processing to denote a unit of measure for crushing performance. The word combines knuse, meaning to crush, and enhed, meaning unit. In English prose it is often described as “crush units” or “crushing units.”

There are two common interpretations of knuseenheder. A throughput-based knuseenhed expresses the amount of material a crusher can process per unit time under standardized test conditions, typically in tonnes per hour. An energy-based knuseenhed expresses the energy required to reduce a standard mass by a defined amount, usually in kilojoules per kilogram.

Measurement and testing vary by region and manufacturer; no universal standard exists. Tests may use a laboratory or pilot-scale crusher, a specified feed material with a given particle size distribution and moisture content, and fixed operating settings. The resulting value is used for equipment selection, capacity estimation, and performance benchmarking.

Knuseenheder are applied in mining, quarrying, and recycling industries, where accurate comparisons of crusher performance aid in design, procurement, and process control. The term appears primarily in Danish technical literature, with occasional adoption in neighboring Nordic regions.
