It is most commonly used to describe a mythological creature or a character that possesses a single, large eye, typically located in the center of its forehead. This characteristic is a defining feature of the Cyclops, a race of giants from Greek mythology.

In Greek mythology, the Cyclopes were primordial beings, often depicted as brutish and powerful. They were skilled blacksmiths and were responsible for forging the thunderbolts of Zeus and the trident of Poseidon.
