kierrätysläpinä
Kierrätysläpinä, or recycling deposit, is a system used in Finland and several other countries to encourage the recycling of single-use packaging materials. The system operates through a small, refundable deposit paid when purchasing certain products, such as drinks in glass or plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and some types of packaging. This deposit is collected upon returning the empty container to designated recycling points, such as supermarkets, recycling centers, or automated collection machines.
The Finnish recycling deposit system was introduced in 1993 as part of broader efforts to reduce waste
Participation in the system is voluntary for consumers, but the deposit acts as an incentive to return
Beyond environmental benefits, the recycling deposit system also supports the economy by creating jobs in recycling
