Keskpärad is a term used in Estonian to describe mediocrity or being average. It refers to something that is neither exceptional nor particularly poor, but falls within the middle range of quality or performance. The word is derived from "kesk," meaning middle, and "pär," which can be related to worth or value. Therefore, keskpärad literally translates to something of middle worth.

The concept of keskpärad is often discussed in Estonian culture and society, sometimes with a critical or even dismissive undertone, suggesting a societal preference for excellence. However, it can also be viewed neutrally as a description of the natural distribution of abilities, achievements, and outcomes. In many contexts, achieving keskpärad is considered perfectly acceptable, while in others, it might be seen as an area for improvement.

A student whose grades are consistently around a C might be described as keskpärane.
