Kaugsidet is a fictional coastal district in the city of Norhaven, used in urban-design case studies and speculative geography. It sits on the northern shore of a sheltered harbor and blends residential blocks with a working waterfront.

The name Kaugsidet is of uncertain origin. In the fictional lore, it derives from the old Norhaven dialect words kaug "keel" and siden "side," a reference to the district’s historic harbor piers. Contemporary materials typically spell the name without diacritics.

The district covers roughly 2.5 square kilometers and centers on a mixed-use spine where markets, offices, and services cluster along the harbor promenade. Residential areas rise inland on a gentle slope; public spaces include Harbor Park and the Old Market Square.

Kaugsidet developed in the late 19th century as a port and shipyard neighborhood. It expanded through the early 20th century and faced industrial decline after World War II. Urban renewal in the 1980s and 1990s transformed many waterfront blocks into apartments and galleries.
