Kattadir is a fictional village and civil parish in the northern highlands of Norvale, a temperate country in the imaginary world of Eldara. It sits on the banks of the Katta River, about 25 kilometers from the provincial capital of Brighthold. The population is around 1,200 residents. The name comes from the local language, with katt meaning hill and adir meaning shelter.

History

Kattadir was founded in the 14th century by Glarian settlers and grew around a manor house. It was later incorporated into the Norvale Principality and, following administrative reforms in the 19th century, established as a parish.

Geography and economy

The village occupies a hillside terrace with mixed farmland. The economy centers on sheep farming, timber, and a small crafts sector producing wool textiles and carved wood goods.

Culture and society

Kattadir hosts an annual harvest festival and a midsummer market. The parish council provides local services, and the community operates a volunteer fire brigade. Education is provided by a single primary school; secondary students travel to the district town.

Access is via a regional road; the nearest railway halt is 20 km away. Local services include a general store, a post office, and a small library.

Notable features

Kattadir Chapel, a 15th-century stone church rebuilt after a fire in the 1880s, and surrounding woodlands designated as a nature reserve.
