Kationinvaihtoresiinat, also known as cation exchange resins, are insoluble polymeric materials containing anionic functional groups that can exchange their mobile cations for other cations in a surrounding solution. Cation exchange resins have a wide range of applications. They are extensively used in water treatment for softening, demineralization, and the removal of specific metal ions. In analytical chemistry, they are employed for separating and concentrating ionic species. They also find use in the pharmaceutical industry for drug delivery and purification, in the food industry for de-acidification and sugar processing, and in chemical synthesis as catalysts.
