Kartonach is the Polish inflected form of the noun karton, referring to cardboard materials and packaging. In practice, kartonach denotes cardboard sheets, cartons, or boxes used for storage, shipping, and display. The term covers several material types that share a paper-based origin but differ in strength and structure.

Most common types are paperboard (solid cardboard), which provides rigidity for cartons and packaging, and corrugated cardboard, which consists of a fluted sheet between two linerboards to increase strength while remaining lightweight.

Production involves pulping wood fibers, forming sheets, and applying coatings or adhesives as needed. Corrugated cardboard uses an additional step to create the fluted medium.

Environmental aspects are central to the discussion of kartonach. Cardboard is widely recyclable; recycling processes recover fibers for new paper products.
