Kartioliitäntä, also known as a tapered connection or taper lock, is a mechanical fastening method used to secure components, often pulleys, sprockets, or couplings, to shafts. Its primary characteristic is the use of a tapered bushing that fits into a tapered bore on the component being mounted. As a bolt or screw is tightened through the component and into the bushing, it forces the bushing to slide along the taper, creating an extremely tight and vibration-resistant interference fit between the shaft and the component.

The tapered surfaces of both the shaft and the bushing, as well as the component's bore, are precisely machined to ensure a secure grip. This interference fit eliminates the need for keyways or other keying mechanisms in many applications, simplifying design and reducing potential failure points. Kartioliitäntä systems are commonly found in industrial machinery, agricultural equipment, and power transmission systems where high torque is transmitted and durability is essential.
