Kapillaariväsy, or capillary fatigue, is a term used in certain contexts to describe a phenomenon where the ability of capillaries to function effectively diminishes. While not a formally recognized medical condition in mainstream physiology, the concept often arises in discussions related to physical exertion, particularly in endurance sports or demanding manual labor. It is generally understood as a state where the microcirculation within muscles or other tissues becomes compromised due to prolonged or intense activity.

This compromise can manifest as reduced blood flow, oxygen delivery, and nutrient supply to the working tissues, as well as impaired waste product removal. Factors contributing to this perceived fatigue might include localized edema within the capillaries, increased viscosity of blood, or changes in the responsiveness of the capillary walls to regulatory signals. In essence, the capillaries may become less efficient at their vital exchange functions.

The subjective experience of kapillaariväsy can be similar to general muscle fatigue, but it is theorized to have a more specific microcirculatory origin.
