Kantberedningen, or the Kant Committee, is a term used in Swedish public administration to denote a standing or temporary body charged with frontier and territorial matters. The name derives from kant, border or edge, and beredningen, preparation or committee.

Its core mandate has included evaluating border issues, preparing policy proposals, drafting treaties, and overseeing demarcation and surveying work. The committee often served to coordinate actions between ministries, agencies, and external partners during negotiations with neighbouring states, as well as to examine administrative arrangements for border districts and related land acquisitions or compensation.

Composition typically included senior civil servants, jurists, geographers, military officers, and diplomats; the body was usually chaired by a minister or other high-ranking official and supported by a skilled secretariat.

Historically, Kantberedningar appeared in various forms within Swedish governance, with powers and jurisdiction that evolved through constitutional and administrative reforms. In some periods they were merged into larger ministries or replaced by specialized border or demarcation commissions; in others the term was used for temporary advisory bodies during specific negotiations.

Today the term is less common in routine administration, but it remains a reference point in archival material on border policy and treaty implementation. The concept illustrates how states historically organized expert bodies to address sensitive frontier issues and coordinate cross-ministerial work.
