Kalachakra, literally "Wheel of Time" in Sanskrit, is a major system of tantric teachings within Vajrayana Buddhism. It centers on the Kalachakra Tantra, a text that presents a comprehensive cosmology, ethical code, and path to awakening through advanced meditation, ritual, and deity yoga. A distinctive feature is the emphasis on the cyclical nature of time and universe, and the symbolic use of mandalas and sacred geography.

The Kalachakra Tantra is among the ancient Buddhist tantras. Its dating and origins are debated; many scholars place its core in medieval India, with later transmission to Tibet and other Buddhist cultures. In Tibetan Buddhism it has been transmitted through multiple lineages, and is especially associated with the Gelug tradition, though it is practiced by other schools as well.
