Käänteistranskriptaasiksi is a Finnish term referring to the enzyme reverse transcriptase. This enzyme plays a crucial role in the life cycle of retroviruses, a group of viruses that includes HIV. Unlike typical DNA replication where information flows from DNA to RNA and then to protein, reverse transcriptase allows for the synthesis of DNA from an RNA template. This process is often described as "reverse transcription."
