Jordfeilstrømsreléet, often abbreviated as RCD (Residual Current Device) or GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) in English, is a safety device designed to protect against electric shock. It works by monitoring the electrical current flowing through live and neutral conductors. Under normal conditions, the current in both conductors should be equal. If there is a fault that causes current to leak to ground, such as through a person, the current in the live and neutral wires will become unequal.
