The service process describes the time it takes to serve a customer, also typically modeled with a probability distribution. The number of servers refers to how many service points are available. The queue discipline dictates the order in which customers are served, with the most common being First-Come, First-Served (FCFS).

The primary goals of analyzing queuing systems are to understand and predict performance metrics such as average waiting time, average queue length, system utilization, and the probability of a customer having to wait. These insights are crucial for making informed decisions about resource allocation, staffing levels, and system design to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
