The name Joforshëm derives from hypothetical Jofori roots: jo- meaning sea and -forshëm meaning gathering or meeting place. In lore, it denotes a harbor where communities converge to trade, deliberate disputes, and celebrate common rituals.

Located in the northwestern archipelago of the imagined realm of Eldara, Joforshëm comprises several islets linked by causeways. The climate is temperate maritime; winters are mild and fog is common. The population is estimated at 70,000 to 90,000, with island towns and coastal clans.

Joforshëm began as a loose alliance of villages in the early medieval era, evolving into a federated province within the Eldaran Confederation. It is governed by a council representing each island and a locally elected governor, combining customary law with written regulations.

The economy centers on fishing, shellfish farming, boatbuilding, and seafood processing, with tourism focused on maritime heritage.
