iskuaarkelointi

Iskuaroarkelointi is a traditional Sami method of hunting and fishing. It involves using a long, flexible implement, typically made from birch or willow branches, to strike and spear fish or other prey in the water. The technique is also known as ice fishing or spearfishing, although the exact methods and tools used can vary.

In traditional iskuaroarkelointi, the hunter would normally use a fixed position, such as a small hole in the ice or a rock outcropping, to create a platform from which to operate. The implement itself would be weighted at one end and shaped to allow for a secure grip with the hands. When a suitable target is spotted, the hunter would carefully aim and strike, using the momentum of the implement to penetrate the surface of the water.
