Inokulantów, often referred to as inoculants, are substances containing living microorganisms. These microorganisms, when applied to seeds, soil, or plant roots, are intended to colonize the plant and promote growth. The primary goal of using inoculants is to enhance nutrient availability or uptake, protect plants from pathogens, or stimulate plant development.

A common type of inoculant involves nitrogen-fixing bacteria, most notably Rhizobia species. These bacteria form symbiotic relationships with legumes, converting atmospheric nitrogen into a form that plants can absorb. This process reduces the need for synthetic nitrogen fertilizers, offering an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative for agriculture.

Other inoculants can contain plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). These microorganisms can produce plant hormones, solubilize phosphorus, suppress soil-borne diseases, and improve plant tolerance to stress.
