Inimökoloogia, also known as human ecology, is an interdisciplinary field of study that examines the relationship between humans and their natural, social, and built environments. It draws upon principles from biology, sociology, anthropology, geography, and environmental science to understand how human populations interact with and impact their surroundings, and conversely, how environmental factors influence human societies and well-being. The field investigates a wide range of topics, including resource consumption, urbanization, pollution, human health, environmental justice, and the sustainability of human settlements.
Human ecology recognizes that humans are not separate from nature but are integral components of complex ecological
