The principle behind infrared heating is similar to how the sun warms the Earth. The infrared spectrum, which is invisible to the human eye, falls just beyond visible red light. When these infrared waves strike an object, the molecules within the object vibrate, increasing their kinetic energy and thus their temperature. This makes the heated object the source of secondary heat.
