The inertsiatensor, also known as the moment of inertia tensor, is a symmetric, second-order tensor in classical mechanics that describes the resistance of a rigid body to rotational acceleration about an axis. It relates the angular velocity of a body to its angular momentum, and also relates the angular acceleration to the torque applied. Mathematically, the inertsiatensor is represented as a 3x3 matrix. Its components depend on the mass distribution of the body and the chosen coordinate system.
