Inertiasets is a term sometimes used in physics, particularly in discussions related to rotational motion and conservation laws. It refers to a system of objects where the distribution of mass relative to an axis of rotation remains constant over time. This constancy implies that the moment of inertia of the system about that axis does not change, even if the individual components of the system are moving.

A key characteristic of an inertiaset is that its total angular momentum is conserved if no external torque acts upon it. This principle is a direct consequence of the conservation of angular momentum, a fundamental law in classical mechanics. If the moment of inertia is constant, any change in the angular velocity of the system must be balanced by an equal and opposite change in another aspect, or there must be no change at all.

Examples of systems that might be considered inertiasets, or approximate them, include rigid rotating bodies where internal forces do not alter the mass distribution. In more complex scenarios, if internal motions within a system perfectly cancel out any changes to the overall mass distribution relative to the rotation axis, the system could behave as an inertiaset. However, truly perfect inertiasets are theoretical constructs, as real-world systems often experience slight variations or external influences.
