Inertiaalisesti is a term that appears in some Finnish-language physics discussions as a way to describe actions, analyses, or observations conducted in an inertial frame of reference. The word is formed from the concept of inertia and a Finnish adverbial suffix, and is sometimes presented as a nonstandard variant or as a deliberate stylistic coinage in educational materials. In standard Finnish, the more common adverb for “inertially” is inertiaalisesti, while inertiaalisesti may be found in informal glossaries or niche writings.

Semantically, inertiaalisesti is used to signal that a description or calculation assumes no non-inertial forces—such as accelerations, centrifugal effects, or Coriolis forces—pertaining to rotating or accelerating frames. In practice, it functions much like “inertially” in English, indicating that the analysis relies on an idealized, constant-velocity reference frame. An example would be stating that a problem can be solved inertiaalisesti, implying the idealization is valid for the scenario.
