An induktiivmõõturis, or inductive meter, is a type of measuring instrument that utilizes the principles of electromagnetic induction to determine a quantity. Typically, these devices are used to measure electrical parameters such as voltage, current, or power, although variations can be adapted for other physical measurements. The core concept involves a changing magnetic field inducing a voltage or current in a nearby conductor, which is then calibrated to represent the measured value.

In the context of electrical measurements, an inductive meter often consists of coils of wire. For instance, a simple inductive voltmeter might have a high-impedance coil in parallel with the circuit being measured, and the voltage across this coil generates a proportional current in a secondary coil, which drives a display. Similarly, an inductive ammeter might use a coil wrapped around a conductor carrying the current to be measured. The magnetic field produced by the current induces a current in the coil, which is then measured.

More complex inductive meters can measure power by incorporating both voltage and current sensing coils, with their outputs combined in a way that is proportional to the product of voltage and current, and the phase difference between them. These devices are generally robust and do not require direct electrical connection to the primary circuit in some configurations, offering a degree of isolation. However, their accuracy can be influenced by external magnetic fields and the frequency of the measured signal. Inductive principles are also foundational in the design of many types of sensors and transducers for non-electrical quantities.
