Immunhämolytische is a German term referring to immune-mediated hemolytic anemia. This condition occurs when the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys its own red blood cells. Red blood cells are crucial for transporting oxygen throughout the body, and their destruction leads to a deficiency in oxygen-carrying capacity, known as anemia.

The immune system typically defends the body against foreign invaders like bacteria and viruses. However, in immune-mediated hemolytic anemia, autoantibodies are produced that target specific antigens on the surface of red blood cells.
