Etymology and name: The name illeille is constructed with symmetric reduplication of the syllable ille to evoke balance and sea imagery. In the fictional setting, it is often glossed as “island of islands.”

Geography: illeille sits in the imagined Drisdan Ocean, comprising six main islands and numerous islets. The archipelago has a temperate maritime climate, with rugged coastlines, mangrove inlets, and coral reefs. The capital and largest city, Lira, lies on the central island.
