Illatának is a Hungarian grammatical form derived from the noun illat, meaning scent or fragrance. The form illatának functions as the genitive or possessive construction indicating possession or association, corresponding roughly to “the scent of its” or “the scent’s.” It is used in phrases where the scent belongs to or is attributed to another noun, typically as part of a larger noun phrase rather than as a standalone word.

In practice, illatának appears in sentences that describe the quantity, quality, or presence of a scent linked to something else. For example: A virág illatának erőssége megkülönbözteti a kertet. (The strength of the flower’s scent distinguishes the garden.) Another example: A fák illatának nyoma a levegőben volt. (The trace of the trees’ scent was in the air.) These constructions resemble equivalent possessive phrases in English, such as “the scent of the flower” or “the trees’ scent.”

Illatának is not a widely used standalone term or proper noun. It is primarily a grammatical form encountered in descriptive or literary Hungarian when discussing fragrance in relation to another noun. When the emphasis is on the scent itself rather than on possession, forms like illata (“its scent”) may be used instead.
