Ichthyos is a genus of extinct marine reptiles belonging to the order Ichthyosauria. These creatures lived during the Mesozoic Era, from the Early Triassic period to the Late Cretaceous period, with their peak diversity occurring in the Jurassic. Ichthyosaurs are often described as resembling dolphins or fish due to their streamlined bodies, dorsal fins, and powerful tails, though they were reptiles, not mammals or fish.
