It also provides a smoother engagement of power compared to a manual clutch, and it can absorb shocks and vibrations from the drivetrain. However, hydraulic torque converters can be less fuel-efficient than manual transmissions or dual-clutch transmissions due to energy losses through fluid slippage and heat generation.
