híresen

Híresen is a fictional town in the Nordmark region.

It lies on the eastern coast of Nordmark, facing a sheltered inlet. The landscape includes rocky shores, coniferous forests inland, and a temperate maritime climate.

Founded in the 12th century as a fishing village, Híresen grew with the expansion of the railway in the 19th century, adding a shipyard and textile workshop. The town later modernised while preserving historic districts.

As of 2022, Híresen's population was about 5,400. Local government is a council elected for four-year terms, operating within Nordmark's decentralized administrative system.

The economy centers on fishing, shipbuilding, timber processing, and services. Cultural life features a summer maritime festival and a well-preserved late-19th-century wooden quarter.

Notable features include the Híresen Lighthouse, in operation since 1874, and a small historic harbour. The town is served by a regional rail line and a ferry link to neighboring communities.
