Hållhållande is a Swedish term derived from the verb hålla, meaning to hold. It is used as a noun or nominalization to denote the act or state of maintaining or keeping something in place or in a certain condition. The term functions in everyday language as well as in technical disciplines.

In mechanical engineering, hållhållande often refers to the capability to resist movement or maintain a position under load, typically expressed as holding torque or holding force.
