Háttértárolás, a Hungarian term, translates to "background storage" or "secondary storage" in English. It refers to non-volatile storage devices that are used to hold data and programs when they are not actively being used by the computer's main processor. Unlike primary storage (like RAM), which is volatile and loses its contents when power is turned off, háttértárolás retains data even without power.

Common examples of háttértárolás include hard disk drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs), USB flash drives, and optical media like CDs and DVDs. These devices are crucial for storing the operating system, applications, user files, and any other data that needs to be persistently available.
