In practice, hyrestiden affects rights and obligations upon termination: tenants generally must vacate by the end of the hyrestiden if no renewal is agreed, while landlords must observe proper termination procedures and notices. Hyrestiden is a common concept in housing leases but can also appear in contracts for other rental arrangements, such as equipment or vehicles, where the duration is defined in a separate agreement.
