Hydroxylphosphate is a chemical compound composed of a phosphate ion (PO43-) and a hydroxide ion (OH-). The general formula for hydroxylphosphate is R-OH:PO4- (where R is a generic cation). This compound is part of the larger class of oxyphosphates.

Hydroxylphosphate exists in several different crystalline forms, including alpha, beta, and gamma-phase, in addition to a detachment-like compound. Each form has unique chemical and physical properties. Hydroxylphosphate is usually colorless but can be green or blue depending on the size and charge of the accompanying cations, as well as the way it is prepared.

In terms of synthetic procedures, hydroxylphosphate can be prepared through the reaction of a hydroxyl-containing compound, a phosphoric acid, or a phosphoric ester with a nitrate or oxide source. Hydroxylphosphates exhibit p-type semiconductor behavior. This class of compounds has gained significance in recent years due to their use in optoelectronic applications. Research has focused on uncovering the effects of atomic substitutions and deformation on the optical and electrical properties of hydroxylphosphate materials.

These compounds also have dental applications. Dental cement, such as glass-ionomer cement, that is hydroxylphosphate-based has been developed and utilized in dental restorations. Their potential to remineralize and fluoride release properties make them a more desirable material than currently available dental cements in certain aspects.
